Love is Complicated

This is a block I designed for Quilt Block Mania.  The topic is "romance" so of course hearts came to mind.  As with all of my designs in this series, I wanted to design a pieced block and started to work on a heart mosaic.  However, as I worked along I became fascinated with the possibilities that popped out with a strip pieced heart instead. 

The not-so-smooth edges and even the jagged points at the top of my heart remind me that love is not about how perfect and smooth a relationship can be, but rather it's riding the excitement of unexpected turns and rough edges together that truly define love.  It's not easy, but it's always an adventure whether with a spouse, partner, child or parent.

Have fun with this, it's all strip pieced so no paper piecing required.
